Several years ago I was reading a book about our founding fathers and ran across this quote by Benjamin Franklin, “When you’re finished changing, you’re finished.” For us as a church we are in a constant state of change. More visitors, more decisions for Christ, more classes, more opportunities to serve all give us different opportunities to change how we do ministry. While changing how we do ministry is a constant, our foundation will always remain Jesus Christ and His Word. With all that being said the Student Ministry is changing. Let me reassure you we are not just changing for changes sake, but to better meet the needs of our students and their families. Starting March 30 (the week after Easter) we will be implementing the following changes.

Sunday mornings will now be set-up for worship from birth to adults. That means that we will be moving the Jr. High worship, FUSION, to Sunday mornings at 9am. Mosaic, the High School worship, will be at 10:30am. By moving these two to Sunday mornings will allow for us to also have a dedicated night for d-groups and life groups. Starting March 30^th Jr. High and High School will have their respective small groups meeting on Sunday nights, just like the adult Life Groups.

Making these changes allows us to be more intentional in some ministry areas. We have High School students who want to be in d-groups, but are to involved in school sports, choirs, and work. So Sunday nights would allow for more students who really want to be a d-group that opportunity.

Breaking Up

On Sunday we looked at the topic of breaking up. Not an easy topic for several reasons. For starters there are no specific scriptures where we have Peter breaking up with a girlfriend because he fishes too much or Daniel breaking up with a girl because he was in love with another girl. Another reason, is because breakups are often painful and leave us broken. We spent the evening challenging the students to start and leave every relationship with forgiveness, honor and integrity. The hard fact is no matter how much you think you are “in love”, all but one relationship in your life will end. So we must learn how Jesus would want us to act and react after a breakup.
